Why We Must Stop Arming Saudi Arabia

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) stated that how Saudi Arabia explained the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi died was “insulting,” so “we really need to discontinue our arms sales to Saudi Arabia.”

After being asked if he believes Saudi Arabia’s explanation, Paul stated, “Absolutely not, I think it’s insulting.”

“I think it stretches credulity to believe that the Crown Prince wasn’t involved in this. And I think that’s the way they’re gonna write this off. People in Saudi Arabia ought to be aware that when you’re told what to do, you go and do it, and then they’ll execute you and put on the blame on someone else. There’s no way 15 people were sent from Saudi Arabia to Turkey to kill a dissident without the approval of the Crown Prince. That’s why I say we have to be stronger than just saying, ‘Oh, we’re gonna sanction a few of these people and pretend like we’re doing something.”

He finished with, “I think we really need to discontinue our arms sales to Saudi Arabia and have a long and serious discussion about whether or not they want to be an ally or they want to be an enemy.”

I’m Just wondering How Many Allies Senator Paul Thinks America Has in the Middle East. I only see two others 1 Israel 2 Jordan Turkey is not What I call a Reliable Ally. I see Erdogan as another Possible Saddam already using his Office to purge Competitor’s. 2016–present purges in Turkey. Turkey’s AKP government solidify control over military, judiciary, media, education. Over 160,000 judges, teachers, police and civil servants suspended or dismissed, together with about 77,000 formally arrested. I’m not really looking at the most Friendly Govt. right now and in this case the Turkish Govt. calling out the Saudi’s is the Pot calling the Kettle Black. So Senator Paul go Ahead and Pull another Jimmy Carter and you’ll all but Hand Europe and the Middle East over to PUTIN.
