Donald Trump campaigned on a promise to “drain the swamp” in Washington… and it looks like John McCain might sadly be part of that same muck.
On Monday night, the 81-year-old senator gave a speech that seemed to attack President Trump’s pledge to make America great again, and made sweeping accusations against the current administration.
McCain used the words “half-baked, spurious nationalism” to describe the Trump presidency, and claimed that the administration was trying “to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe.”
Apparently to an establishment politician who has been part of the D.C. swamp since 1983, looking out for the American people and keeping promises is “abandoning ideals.”
Of course, judging by McCain’s sabotage of the effort to replace Obamacare while repeatedly claiming it was his top priority, he may be a bit out of practice in keeping promises himself.
On Tuesday, Trump hit back against the increasingly left-leaning senator. “People have to careful, because at some point I fight back,” Trump said to WMAL radio host Chris Plante.
