President Donald Trump threatened to de-certify the Obama administration’s Iran nuclear deal and now Iranian officials are desperate to get in touch with the White House.
A source told Reuters that following Trump’s threat, Iran responded and expressed a new willingness to open talks about the Islamic Republic’s nuclear missile programs.
“During their meeting on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly last month, Iran told members of the (world powers) that it could discuss the missile programme to remove concerns,” the source told Reuters.
A former U.S. Defense Department told the news organization that Iran has reached out to the Trump administration, eager to speak with the U.S. in order to reach a solution.
“Iran has put feelers out saying it is willing to discuss its ballistic missile programme and is using contacts … officials who were ‘holdovers’ from the Obama administration,” he said.
This is great news for the United States.
